About me

My first job after college was working in a lab – a lonely lab. (I’m an introvert who majored in chemistry, so why not, right?) Well, it wasn’t for me. But it helped me realize that I needed to work with people! I went on to earn my M.S. Ed. from the University of Kansas, and then joined the training department at Arizona State University, where I had the opportunity to:

• Develop internationally benchmarked leadership programs

• Create nationally recognized supervisor training and testing programs

• Lead a training department responsible for the comprehensive training, education and development of 7,000 faculty and staff and 7,000 part time employees.

Since 2008, I’ve been an independent consultant in the Phoenix area, designing and delivering participation-based training to clients in corporate, non-profit, educational and government workplaces. Over the years, I’ve developed many customized curriculums for organizations, and also enjoyed being a meeting facilitator.

Another notable experience has been my volunteer work with a non-profit organization that supports people facing temporary homelessness and unemployment. I was fortunate to work with some admirable, resilient women. Their hard work and amazing progress inspires me every day.

Today, as founder of Laura Royal Consulting, I thrive on teaching my clients how to navigate real-life challenges in the workplace. For me, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping people reach their potential.

Fun fact: I’m an amateur birder, a pastime that’s taught me to observe carefully, be quiet when necessary, and listen well.
